 I am going to enter this is the Double D Jar Challenge. 

I used a digi purchased from Beccy's Place Store, Button Collector Set.  Used prismacolor pencils to color the image.  The sentiment was cut using Stampin' Up Lots of Labels Framelit Dies.  The image was cut using My Favorite Things Die-namics.  

I might use this card idea for a birthday card for my button collecting friends.

Spread your wings and Fly

 I am entering the Double D Challenge using a Jar.  Mine is a mason jar with butterflies.

I stamped the jar and lid using Stampin' Up Jar of Love.  Stamped the butterflies using Stampin' Up Papillon Popourii.  Colored the butterflies using Prismacolor Pencils.  Sentiment is from Stampin' Up Little Lady Bug.  It's a simple card, with a lovely message.

Mixed Media: Laundry Days

 My dear friend, Shandy Davis, encouraged me to join her taking an on-line course in mixed media. 

The course is by mixed media artist Jennifer Chamberlin at https://www.themakerbeehive.com/.  She does the project in several lessons that are well explained and all about having fun.  Her classes are quite affordable.

 As this is my first attempt at this technique I learned much and see where I would make changes on the next project.  

My completed project: 

This was built on a number of steps.  First one is to glue down images that tell a story.

Next step is to cover with white gesso.  After that dries the project is cut down to the size of the backing.  Then one dabs on paint color randomly, and use a stencil to add texture.  Then use a rubber stamp to add more interest.

Dresses were made from scraps of designer series paper, trims, washi tape, and whatever strikes one's fancy.  Bakers twine was used to create the clothes line.  The "clothes pins" are marks with a brown marker.  Edges are distressed for interest.  

It was a fun project and I can see variations to use for future projects.

Turner Syndrome is a genetic disorder where a female is born missing partial or all of her second X chromosome leaving her with life-long medical issues and learning disabilities.  This condition occurs one in every 2,000 female births worldwide, but is more common among pregnancies that do not survive to full term.  That is why Turner Syndrome Females are considered MIRACLES!

I used Reflections Stamp "Bella" for the girl.  I like that she is wearing shoes that are too big, making her look like she is playing dress up.  The stamp included wings which could indicate she is a fairy, or is playing dress up fairy.  The image included a headband with feather that I choose not to include.  The card is colored using Prismacolor Pencils.  The sentiment came from Hero Arts "Thanks" stamp set.  The garden was created using Stampin' Up "Grace's Garden Stamp Set".  The butterflies were created using Stampin' Up "Papillon Potpouri".  Once I put the butterflies on, I wondered if the little girl is pretending to be a butterfly.  

The Turner Syndrome Foundation is a worthy cause.  We need to spread the word to support girls and women.  It was new information to me that these girls are usually lost during pregnancy.  The girls that make it full term are truly miracles.

Waterfall card

I have been wanting to make a waterfall card.  At Stamp Fest I purchased Art Gone Wild Waterfall Die.  Couldn't remember how to do it since it was months later.  Searched You-Tube and saw various examples.  It took several tries to get the card to operate.  First time for anything is usually a challenge.  Will be making more of this type another day.  The stamp set "Cats in the Craft Room" is from Gray Muse.  Lori Kobular gifted me with the darling stamp set.

I have a crafting friend who loves her naps.  Perhaps I should send it to her. Hmmm.

Using a card kit

I love the look of Anna Griffin cards.  I have a couple of kits and decided it was time to play with them.

  I opened up the Valentine's kit.  The cards are lovely, but the sentiments are more for significant other than friends.  The love of my life is my cat Benjamin.  He doesn't care about getting mail or cards.  So I decided to turn them into birthday cards.

A few were made into "Thinking of You" cards.  Made a couple of them for special friends.  The first one is for one of my dear stamping buddies.  I think she will like it.

I made this one for a special friend who is crazy for cats.  Used kitties from another Anna Griffin kit.

I had a good time playing with the cards, deciding how to decorate them and what sentiment to use.  Some of the cards I made alternative sentiments with stamps in my collection. 

Thinking of you while Social Distancing

A group of friends decided to create a card exchange during this period of staying at home and social distancing.  This is my card.  I stole the idea from Connie of Simply Simple Stamping.  Used Stampin' Up stamps:  Ornate Style Stamps is a new set that will come out in the new catalog in June; the sentiment came from a retired set, Avant-Garden.

She is Mermazing.

Her grandmother told her she could be anything she wanted when she grew up.  Thirty some years later, my friend Shandy still believes.  She always wanted to be a mermaid!    For her birthday, I made her a mermaid card using a six Adorn It designs with mermaids, colored with Prismacolor pencils.  I added a Stampin' Up mermaid.  The front of the card is from a scrapbook page given to me.

Just love these Adorn It drawings of mermaids.  They made a cute light-hearted card.

Pig Out on Birthday

A toddler of my acquaintance is enamored with Peppa the Pig.   Lucky for me, she is pleased with a pig even if it is not the actual Peppa.  She enjoyed her birthday card.  Happy 3rd birthday to Sofia.

The stamp set is 'This Little Piggy' from Stampin' Up.  Did a bit of coloring with my Prismacolor pencils.  Card stock and DSP from Stampin' Up.  A simple card, but filled with love for a little girl.

My TS related project is inspired by the TSA official color board:

My card: 

       I knew what I wanted the image to be, but my stamps didn't work out.  So I did a bit of manipulation.  I wanted to use Beautiful You, but the lady was too small for the butterflies from Papilion Potpourri.  So I scanned and enlarged the lady dancing in the puddle.  Stamped a number of butterflies.  Colored the lady and butterflies with Prismacolor Pencils.  I used the butterfly punch from Stampin' Up, gave them some dimension by curling the edges and put them on dimensional dots.  The sentiment is by Donna Ellis, Sparkle N Sprinkle, added a bit of color along the edge and raised using dimensional dots.  The border is Sizzix Edgelits.  I am pleased with the result, it is as imagined.

       Turner Syndrome is about girls and women therefore I wanted to show a happy lady dancing in a water puddle.  The butterflies are often used in relation to since they seem feminine and joyful.  

       It is an honor to participate in the Turner Syndrome Awareness Blog Hop.  I only learned of this disease recently and want to help spread awareness.  Please read about Turner Syndrome and share this information with others.

Lavinia World Stamps

I love the fantasy stamps available from Lavinia World Stamps.

I used several other stamps from Lavinia.  I struggled with wanting to add sparkle.  This is my third attempt.  Used Stickles the first two times and decided it was messy looking.  This final attempt I put on glue and loose glitter.  The smaller application around the fairy don't show up well in the photo.  

Recently joined their Facebook page, Anything Lavinia.  My name was randomly chosen to receive a stamp.  They sent me a fairy named Winifred.  Although the company is from the UK, there is a US distributor in Miami, FL and when I have ordered stamps they arrive quickly.

I am going to send a photo of my card to the Anything Lavinia Facebook page and will enter their latest challenge on the Lavinia World Challenge.

Fairy Dust Season

Fairy dust is always in season. 

The background is a piece of self made marbling done on paper.  The stamps are from Lavinia World. I added a bit of color around the fairy and colored the fairy dust.  The round and oval shapes were cut with layering dies from Stampin' Up.

Happy Halloween

Happy Halloween to every one.

Sorry I have not been posting anything.  Frankly not done much as I have been under the weather.  Hope to be feeling better soon.  I've been buying lots of fun stamp sets.  Hope to soon be making cards and posting.

The cards are for Halloween.

I used last year's Stampin' Up designer series paper and did some fussy cutting.  

Next to the cauldron is a frog and a black cat.

Again used last year's Stampin' Up designer series paper, and fussy cut out designs.  

The bottom layer is stripes and a bunch of spiders crawling.

This is the Halloween Birthday card for my younger sister.  I used Spellbinders die cut for the spider web and the word Boo!  The bat, pumpkins, witch and cat are from My Favorite Things.  Used pencils to color the images, and used the coordinating die cuts.

QKR Stampede Cat and Dog

As a guest designer for 2 Crafty Critter Crazies this month I was provided with the image of a cat and dog by QKR Stampede.

I used Prismacolor Alcohol Ink Markers for coloring the image.  Used My Favorite Things stencil, Staggered Paw Prints to make the background.  The sentiment is from Lawn Fawn Meow You Doin'.  The ink and colored paper is Soft Suede from Stampin' Up.

Making cards on vacation in Alaska

Went to visit my friend, Clara Jo Minnick, in Anchorage, Alaska.  While we were there we went to a stamping store in the town of Palmer, just an hour away.  The owner, Jeanne Perkins, is a delight and has lots of fun stamps and papers for sale.  Best of all, Jeanne has lots of ideas that she is willing to share.  Aren't crafters the best.  She has classes several times each week to accommodate most everyone.  While I visited, we made two trips to Stamp Cache Alaska.  Put her contact info at end of post.  Her website: www.stampcachealaska.com 

One makes three card designs each class:

The one above has glitter added using stickles.

The pin wheel is multiple pieces of paper and a brad in center.

This one has a product the makes fruit glisten.

Teddy Bears by Sheep Ski Designs

I have been honored with the opportunity to be a guest designer for 2 Crafty Critter Crazies.  This is the design I made for the first month.  The digital image was provided by the sponsor: Sheep Ski Designs.

I made the frame from Spellbinders, with some adjustment.
The flowers were using 5114D Mini Flower Stack Die by Rubbernecker Stamps.
The background was created using two stencils (mini clouds and grass) from My Favorite Things. I colored the digi image using Prismacolor Pencils.

Believe in Fairies with Lavinia Stamps

I believe in Fairies.

I used Lavinia stamps for the fairy sitting in the moon and for the word Believe.  The background is made by me doing some experimenting with marbling paper.  Added some more texture using a stamp from a Stampin Up set.
